With bags finally packed, they were loaded in the car and off to the airport. Thank you so much, Ken and Teal, for coming to see me off at the airport. That was awesome of you.
Right after making it through security, already my German adventure began, as I met a kid from Frankfurt and helped him find the right gate for his flight. As seems to be typical with United Airlines, the flight was delayed thanks to the plane not actually being present at the airport yet. However, we were supposed to get into London onto, which did in fact happen.
During the flight to London, I was able to (moderately) start dispelling the effects of jetlag by resetting my watch to London time and sleeping based on that time. Sleep, eat, and study German. Such was the result of my flight. Mysteriously, my Nook had lost all of its battery power, despite me not using it and it having a full battery before I left home. Equally odd was that this has only happened once before: the last time I was on a multi-hour flight.
Walking through the London airport with its seemingly endless hallways reminded me of the last time I was here, years ago. I have fond memories of that trip, and can only hope that this one will prove as educational and enjoyable.
It appears that my flight from London to Frankfurt has been delayed by fifteen minutes. Not bad, I suppose, and it could certainly be worse. Time to go find something to buy with these 1.7 British Pounds, which I found that I had left over from three years ago….
