This evening I had a meeting and brief city tour of Marburg with my coordinator in the CEPA program. We went to dinner and had a few good examples of German food, including a potato and leek soup, a chicken and mushroom dish, and then a crepe-like desert with slices of apple.
As it turned out, it was a good thing that I had not gone and invested in a cell phone, as one was provided to me, along with a pay-as-you-go local number, as part of my CEPA program fees. So I now have a local German number, which may come in handy at some point. (There is a pun there that only makes sense in Germany, where a cellular phone is referred to as a “Handy.”)
When I returned to my room this evening, I randomly met my neighbours. Their “suite” is the only other bedroom at the end of the long hallway off which my room is located. I say “suite” because theirs is designed with a half-kitchen and bathroom built into the room. The two occupants are from Colorado, here on a Fullbright scholarship with that program’s study abroad.
Time to finish off homework for the evening!
