This morning I again waited outside the Hausfrau’s office, only to be approached by a maintenance worker who I conversed with in caveman-German. I discussed the issue in my room with him and learned that the Hausfrau was apparently on vacation. Tuesdays are the day in which we can take our bedding to the Hausfrau’s office to exchange it for clean blankets, sheets, etc. I vaguely wondered, as I was on my way to class, how that was expected to be accomplished. This shall shortly be revealed.
Class was not very exciting today. Tuesdays and Thursdays are an hour longer than Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so class seemed to drag on and on throughout the morning. We were introduced to a German style of poetry called Elfchen (“little 11”). A lot like Haiku’s, we ended up created a few in class, which I shall now share with you. They were really corny.
On the weather…
“Wetter…
Es regnet
Auf der Erde
Regenboden Blumen Bäume Tiere
Frühling!“
On family...
„Familie
Sie wohnen
In der Wärme
Aber regnet es hier
Weitab“
On tea...
„Suppe
Die Farben
Grün Schwarz Braun
Anderen machen das Spektrum
Tee“
After class, I exchanged some music with a friend, worked on class work, and did some German review over a cup (or five) of tea. All in all, a pretty relaxed afternoon.
Happy birthday to Jessica, who turns 21 today!
