This morning’s British literature class was fun. We finally have moved into direct talking about The Lord of the Rings, and it has been great to be able to contribute so much to the conversation (especially things that just stem from a love of reading and a minor obsession with the series and Tolkien’s writings). I met with my tandem partner for lunch today and happened to mention to him regarding my volunteering for the junior high class. He is an American studies major who volunteer-teaches English at a local high school three times per week, and he asked if I was interested in teaching a lesson or two during times when I did not have class. I accepted, and I am really looking forward to these opportunities. In the past, I have heard of many study abroad-students teaching English abroad, but most of them had that as a primary part of their program. I am excited that these opportunities were presented to me and came completely out of the blue.
Time to write some papers!
